In its 4th edition, the National Youth Film Awards (NYFA) casts its net wider with the introduction of a brand new Open Youth Category in search of young talents with a passion and knack for filmmaking.
Having received over 700 submissions since its inception in 2015 for its Media Student Category, this new category is now open to all youths aged between 15–35 years old, with or without formal media training.
A jury panel consisting of renowned names in the local media industry will assess the award submissions across 26 award categories, including Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Direction, and Best Picture.
NYFA offers a path towards a professional career in film, recognising youths who are highly skilled in their respective fields across the spectrum of the industry and celebrates excellence in filmmaking in Singapore.
Prizes will not only include cash prizes starting at $1000 and up, but also, among others, selected professional film courses worth $15,000, professional equipment such as the Ursa Mini Pro worth more than $8,000, fast track access to film grant applications and concrete opportunities to work with film professionals.
A highlight of NYFA 2018 will also be the opportunity for winners to get their films distributed regionally. Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony to be held on 28 July 2018.
Submissions are open from now till 18 May 2018. For more information, visit us at www.scape.sg/nyfa/.
