Ever wondered exactly how books like the Harry Potter series become mega-bestsellers? With the number of books written nowadays, it is very hard to get your voice heard. (And become an overnight billionaire in the process!) But in the upcoming movie THE WORDS, Rory Jensen (Bradley Cooper) manages to do just that. The story, however, is not as straightforward as it seems. Is Rory’s story really his own? Or has he committed the crime that our professors caution us against before every essay submission – plagiarism?

Rory Jensen strongly believes words are his calling, but has not figured out how to translate his hobby into a living. That is, until he suddenly transforms from novice, un-paid writer to best-selling author – with a story that leaves everyone awestruck. Just as soon as he has tasted literary success, a mysterious old man (Jeremy Irons) accuses Rory of stealing his story. This man reminisces about his tragic life in post-World War II Paris, a life that inspired him to write this novel. Rory is shattered, questioning his creativity, his morals and his future. Sounds simple enough? Not quite, because as we all know, Hollywood movies do not come without a few twists and turns!

Are you ready for the biggest twist of all? Rory is not real. You heard me right; he is the creation of literary titan Clay Hammond (Dennis Quaid). But Rory might just be Hammond’s fictitious alter ego – Hammond’s successful façade is hiding a secret past, one that would shatter his wonderful career if revealed. Hammond might have built his livelihood on plagiarism, just as Rory did.

Confused? Don’t worry, you are not alone! Bradley Cooper is a real person playing a fictional character who is himself a fictional character. In short, THE WORDS is a story within a story about a story! The premise might be complicated, but this movie is sure to be an exciting one that will keep you on the edge of your seat. So if you like books and the world of literature, are interested in works with a lot of suspense and romance (Yes, this movie has the inevitable romantic track with Olivia Wilde and Zoe Saldana playing female leads), or simply love Bradley Cooper (who doesn’t?), be sure to watch THE WORDS in theatres on October 4th!
