[Event] Go The Distance: Project Happy Feet Slipper Race 2012

They say you never truly understand a person until you walk a mile in their shoes. This November, Project Happy Feet promises its participants the chance to do just that.

The Project Happy Feet Slipper Race is Singapore’s only non-competitive walk in slippers. Inspired by the many school children who make an arduous 3 km walk to school either barefooted or in slippers, the Slipper Race 2012 aims to raise funds to support the education of underprivileged school children in Singapore and Cambodia.

By getting participants to walk in a similar distance in slippers, Project Happy Feet hopes that participants will put themselves in the shoes of these underprivileged children and do their part towards helping to give these children a chance at quality education.

Project Happy Feet operates on the belief that there is much that can still be done for underprivileged children around the world–children who are deprived of an education, or who have their feet lacerated by broken glass on their daily walk to school. This is our chance to go the distance, and race against time to make that positive impact.

This year, Project Happy Feet hopes to raise $250,000 in support of the Compassion Fund & the SPED Financial Assistance Scheme in Singapore, as well as for This Life Cambodia — a non-profit organisation in Cambodia which focuses on education and community development.

The event will take place at Angsana Green, East Coast Park, on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. The event ground will open at 7 a.m., with the flag-off at 8 a.m. sharp.

Registrations are closed but you can find out more about the project at http://www.projecthappyfeet.org/.
