NUS student union organises thank you event for university’s support staff

On the evening of November 8, 50 support staff of NUS attended a thank you event organised by National University of Singapore Students’ Union (NUSSU) where they were at treated to performances, drinks and a picnic basket filled with snacks at University Town’s Town Green. With the aim of wanting to show appreciation to the unsung heroes; such as NUS’s security guards, canteen staff, shuttle bus drivers and housekeeping and maintenance workers, the picnic was the finale event of a one-week long campaign of students thanking various support staff of NUS.

Over the course of the campaign which started on October 31, NUSSU set up booths across the various faculties where students penned words of gratitude on postcards to staff.

They were also encouraged to present the postcards to them, snap a photo with their heroes and upload them to the student union’s Facebook page.

Student group of the week

Rotaract Club NUS

Rotaract Club NUS offers you the chance to develop yourself, have loads of fun whilst making tons of friends with people who are as passionate about giving back to the community as you are!

Rotaract Club NUS sets itself apart from other community service clubs because they stem from a giant network of Rotaract and Rotary Clubs that are both local and global. This represents a multitude of opportunities to have social interactions with people of different ages and diverse nationalities who love helping the community as much as you do! Besides that, the club also stresses the importance of developing the individual and strengthening the bonds between like-minded peers. This is done via the Club Service events that include seminars, workshops as well as bonding sessions.

One of their local project, Waves of Hope Swimathon is now recruiting organizing committee members for the event in 2014. If you are keen in building up this meaningful project, do check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RotaractClubNus?directed_target_id=0 for more information.
