At the recent 8th World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia, the NUSChoir put up a stellar performance and clinched three Golds, edging out stiff competition from other elite choirs such as the Peking Students Choir (China), Yonsei Concert Choir (Korea) and the Ars Nova Vocal Vocal Ensemble (Hungary).

The biannual World Choir Games is one of the world’s most prestigious choral competitions where the world’s top choirs gather to compete and showcase their choral excellence. 61 choristers from NUS, including eight alumni, participated in this year’s Games under the leadership of their Conudctor, Professor Nelson Kwei and clinched Gold Medals in the Folklore Music, Sacred Music and Contemporary Music categories.

The NUSChoir performs year round to promote choral music excellence both on campus and to external audience. This year’s three Golds top a long list of other accolades, including the Gold Award with Perfect Scores in Open Mixed and Jazz categories at the Fiesta Choralis in Solvakia and Overall Champion with Perfect Scores at the Grand Prix, Russia.
