A new year, a new semester, a new list of resolutions that we probably will not keep.

Here are six resolutions unique to NUS students.

Let’s face it: waking up for 8am classes is always a chore. Worse, when we do manage to be ready on time, the shuttle bus service falters on us.

  1. I will stay awake in all my classes.

It isn’t difficult to catch yourself dozing off during lectures, especially when it has been a long night or when the lecture slot coincides with the deadly post lunch food coma.

  1. I will dress better to school.

Students often start off the semester looking fresh and ready to take on the new term but when finals period arrives, slippers, hoodies and the t-shirt and shorts combo become a staple for students, especially for those camping out at Central Library to study.

  1. I will read all my readings.

We usually start out the term being enthusiastic about staying on top of our readings. Sadly, when time is tight, we begin to pick selected readings to read and pray that the lecturers picked the same ones to pull questions from.

  1. I will not leave assignments for the last minute.

Procrastination is something all students grapple with. More often than not, this resolution fizzles out as the semester gets more intense and pulling all-nighters becomes  increasingly common.

Every student aims for their CAP to improve after each semester. With hard work and consistency, it’s definitely one of the most doable resolutions in this list.
