Excited that it’s coming but have no idea what to do during recess week? Fret not. Here are five things you can to do during your recess week break!
1. Catch up on your beauty sleep.
Sleep appears mundane at first glance, but there’s more to the snooze than just a boring snore. Following a period of sleep, memories are actually less fuzzy! In fact, studies have shown that sleep is important for the maintenance of normal levels of cognitive skills such as speech, memory and flexible thinking. That might mean the difference between an A and a B+ on your next assignment!
So make full use of this short break to refuel before the gruelling semester ahead.
2. Binge watch your favourite TV series.
Clueless about what to watch? Or have you already run out of shows? Here’s what I’d recommend:

This psychological thriller will get your heart pumping. What’s more, with just 12 episodes, this anime can be easily completed within the break.

For all Korean drama fans out there, this hot new drama is a must-see. A combination of crime, thriller and romance, this drama will keep you at the edge of your seat.
If you’re in need of a good laugh yet tremble at the thought of committing to an entire series (the horror!), here are some good old comedy shows for you:
Impractical Jokers
Four friends play practical jokes on unsuspecting strangers in a hidden camera format. With a whole ton of episodes and new videos coming out regularly, you won’t run out of entertainment.

From silly games with celebrity guests to readings of humorous tweets, this show will definitely tickle your funny bone.
3. Get a temporary job.
University is not cheap, why not make use of this time for a few extra dollars to fund your education/bingsu addiction?
Ad-hoc event management jobs, warehouse assistant jobs, freelancing- you name it, you got it. These jobs usually pay very well and require little commitment.
4. Hop on a plane for a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of student life

Let’s face it. Recess week, unlike the holidays, is a short break to catch up on readings, tutorial activities and webcasted lectures. Way more important especially if you have a midterm looming just around the corner.

Central Library
One of the more popular study spots, seats can be snapped up pretty quickly so be prepared to chope them fast. May the best ‘choper’ win.
Benches around school
They’re perfect if you like to engage in chit-chat with your friends during the occasional study break – you don’t have to be all hushed and quiet as people in the library.
ERC at UTown
With personal “cubicles” and a cooling air-conditioned environment, this location tops the list for privacy and conduciveness for efficient mugging.
Go early to chope your favourite seat! You’d be surprised how packed some of these places can be, even during the holidays.
