Imagine this: You’re queuing at your favourite ride; it’s been an hour, yet there’s still no sign of the end. You desperately cool yourself down with a make-do brochure fan under the sweltering afternoon heat, lamenting to your friend how you shouldn’t be paying so much just to spend time waiting unproductively.
Sounds familiar?
Well, then all you adrenaline junkies out there will most certainly be thrilled to hear this: Two new tracks and a new Skyride is finally in operation at Skyline Luge Sentosa from 16 October 2017. This means faster queues, shorter waiting time, and more rounds around the tracks!
These additions are done in part of the $14-million investment project by Skyline Enterprise, in hopes of enhancing riders’ experiences. NUSSU The Ridge was invited to grace the event at its launch last Monday, and had the privilege to witness the Ribbon-cutting and Champaign popping ceremony.

Enthusiastic riders donned in colourful helmets and ready to begin their first Luge adventure. Helmets of different sizes are available for collection while waiting.
Luge Tracks
All those hours spent lounging out on Nintendo’s go-kart games and Sega AM2’s Virtua Racing playoffs in the dingy arcade with your best friends, turns out isn’t going to waste. If you ever wanted a hand at one of those competitive games but slot cars with guided track grooves feels too much of a no-brainer and actual F1 racing cars feels too risky, then these Luge rides are just for you.
Despite the many virtual racing games that closely resemble the experience of tearing your way through the tracks, none can beat being completely and physically in control of your own kart. Simply steer the handles left and right in the direction you wish to go; pull it back to brake; or loosen your grip to accelerate – this one’s easy to control, you don’t even need a license for it!
The addition of two new tracks, Expedition (658m) and Kupu Kupu – “Butterfly” in Malay (638m) to the current two, Dragon (688m) and Jungle (628m) trails, gives riders more variety of paths to pick from. Feel the wind against your face as you make your way through the meandering curves and hairpin turns. On this 3-wheeled gravity ride, you’ll never cease to be unchallenged. Its no wonder their slogan reads, ‘Once Is Never Enough’!

This 3-wheeled cart smartly employs gravitational pull to keep it going, keep your eyes on the tracks as you make your way down these winding routes.
Skyride
Upon completing your Luge journey, quickly get on the 4-seater chairlift for a bird’s eye view of the Sentosa coastline. This Skyride goes as tall as up to 16 metres above the ground so you may enjoy the cool breeze of nature unblocked. The addition of a Skyride makes for more rounds midair, so don’t be afraid to let down your hair, take selfies or share this moment with your loved ones onboard.
The real adventure begins when the sun goes down and the nightlights finally come on. Busk in the spectacular panorama view of the night shows on the Skyride, and feel your adrenaline rush on the Luge as you navigate through tracks illuminated with dazzling coloured lights.

This 8-minutes long Skyride spans across 315 metres and can sit up to 4 people.
