In this Issue, Yeast, we go beyond looking at yeast as a bacteria used to produce breads, brews and other edible goods (though we may touch on them as well), to how it represents growth and change. Just as how it sustains, grows and bubbles as if it breathes, our contributors this issue aim to gaze at yeast from inside and out: As a symbol of life, watching how it develops into identity, (counter-)culture, and community. How it shapes adulthood, how it gives rise to our desire for change, and how it leaves us with hope.
We hope you enjoy reading Yeast! It’s time for the fruits of our labour to bloom, and for you to enjoy what we’ve cooked up!
